Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Board of Education
Century Unit School District No. 100

Monday, May 4, 2009

The Special meeting of the Board of Education of Century Unit School District No. 100 was called to order by Chris Doctorman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009.  The following members were present:  Chris Doctorman, Garrett Wilson, Guy Inman, Keith Clark, Lee Reagan, and Marlan Hight.

Others Present:  Sheila Donis, Andre Meadows, Myndi Duke, Pete Franco, Joey Dunkin, Randy Reagan, Debbie Goins, Ashley Eastwood, Vonda Dexter, and Karen Reagan.

A motion was made by DOCTORMAN and seconded by REAGAN to approve the regular and closed minutes from the April 20, 2009 meeting and to continue to keep these and previous closed session minutes closed per semi-annual review. 
Voting yes:  Doctorman, Wilson, Inman, Reagan, Clark and Hight.  Voting no:  none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by INMAN and seconded by WILSON to certify the results of the April 7, 2009 election and to declare Marlan Hight, Larry (Joey) Dunkin, Jr., Pedro (Pete) Franco and Randy Reagan as winners.
Voting yes:  Doctorman, Wilson, Inman, Reagan, Clark and Hight.  Voting no:  none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by DOCTORMAN and seconded by L. REAGAN to appoint Sheila Donis as Temporary Chairperson and Andre Meadows as Temporary Secretary.
Voting yes:  Doctorman, Wilson, Inman, Reagan, Clark and Hight.  Voting no:  none.  Motion carried.
A motion was made by L. REAGAN and seconded by DOCTORMAN to adjourn Sine Die.
Voting yes:  Doctorman, Wilson, Inman, Reagan, Clark and Hight.  Voting no:  none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by HIGHT and seconded by FRANCO to nominate and elect Garrett Wilson as President of the Board.
Voting yes:  Clark, Inman, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.    Voting no:  none.  Abstaining:  Wilson.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by FRANCO and seconded by HIGHT to nominate and elect Keith Clark as Vice-President of the Board.
Voting yes:  Wilson, Inman, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.    Voting no:  none.  Abstaining:  Clark.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by HIGHT and seconded by FRANCO to nominate and elect Guy Inman as Secretary of the Board.
Voting yes:  Wilson, Clark, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.    Voting no:  none.  Abstaining:  Inman.  Motion carried.

New Board President Garrett Wilson called the Reorganized Century Board of Education meeting to order at 6:12 p.m.

A motion was made by HIGHT and seconded by WILSON to adopt the agenda with the addition of adding a Closed Session.
Voting yes:  Wilson, Clark, Inman, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.  Voting no:  none.

A motion was made by HIGHT and seconded by CLARK to reaffirm all existing policies of the Century Board of Education.
Voting yes:  Wilson, Clark, Inman, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.  Voting no:  none.

A motion was made by HIGHT and seconded by FRANCO to set the next regular board meeting date for May 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.  Future meeting dates/times will be set at that meeting.

A motion was made by CLARK and seconded by HIGHT to adjourn to Closed Session at 6:24 p.m. to consider information relative to student matters; employment, appointment or dismissal of an employee; contractual matters; collective bargaining matters; and possible litigation (probable or imminent).
Voting yes:  . Wilson, Clark, Inman, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.    Voting no:  none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by HIGHT and seconded by FRANCO to return to Open Session at 7:35 p.m.
Voting yes:  . Wilson, Clark, Inman, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.    Voting no:  none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by WILSON and seconded by FRANCO to hire Chris Dexter as an Instructional Assistant for the 2009-2010 school year.
Voting yes:  Wilson, Clark, Inman, Hight, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.  Voting no:  none.

A motion was made by CLARK and seconded by WILSON to hire Regina Tabb as an Instructional Assistant for the 2009-2010 school year.
Voting yes:  Wilson, Clark, Dunkin, Franco and Reagan.  Voting no:  Hight and Inman.

A motion was made by HIGHT and seconded by FRANCO to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
